How do I maintain flowers?

I feel really stupid asking this, just throwing that out there.

My boyfriend bought me 12 white roses for our 1 month anniversary of being together, I’ve never received flowers before so I don’t know how to maintain them. Is there anything I can do to make them last longer? They’re beautiful and I’d love to keep them as long as possible. I would ask my mom but hers always die really quickly. It came with a little package of stuff to dump in and I did that already.

Snip the tips of the stems off at an angle before you put them in the water. It will help more water be drawn up into the stems.

But you’re really only looking at blooms for a couple of days with roses. If you want to preserve them longer, press a few of them in a book with as much weight as you can on top for a couple of weeks. If you do this before they start to wilt, you’ll have a perfectly preserved (albeit 2-dimensional) rose.
