How do I convince my parents into letting me having a a social site?

I’ve tried everything to convince my parents, but they are so stubborn! I’ve been good around the house, and whenever I go on theirs, I don’t do ANYTHING bad.

o ok nvm then but how should I convince them? I’ve given them reasons like if a social site is mainly posting pix of your self and talking about your self and my parents post pix of me and my bros all the time and talk bout us then why wont they let me have one? and I have my own website with pix and vids of me so they are being cranky bout it and yea they dont care if I have this account its just advice you know?

but the thing is when I typed in my question, it showed up as scoial site, when it was supposed to be face book, so let me re-phrase this-how do I convince my parents into letting me have a face book?

Answer #3

here’s why I suggest you don’t get one

  • a social site was made for college students to discuss trending topics and issues and to just keep in touch with their school buddies.
  • too much drama on it especially with all the high school kiddies who really shouldn’t have one because it was made for college students.
  • it’s a huge distraction from school work (my grades suffered because I would be writing a paper and somehow end up on fcbk and well that paper never gets finished)
  • there’s a lot of creepers on there, I deleted mine after I found out how my ex best friend whom I had blocked had been snooping and leaving comments on my site from someone elses account.

I bet your parents have a good reason why they don’t want you on it, you should respect that. a social site is nothing but trouble unless used for the right reasons and it’s not the end of the world because LIKE OMG you don’t have a a social site.

Ask for on your next birthday to be allowed and enter into a contract to: 1.) allow them access to your history. And you do not erase your history. 2.) give them your screen names and passwords - including emails. 3.) agree that if and when they want to look into your emails, you will allow that. 4.) suggest that they put on a filter to keep out the obvious bad stuff - one that has a white list (allowable sites to visit). 5.) also you can tell them that you feel that this will give you some exposure to the ‘wild west’ of the internet but still have the parental safety net to help you deal with the bad stuff. And there is some VERY bad stuff out there!

In time they will learn that you are a person of your word.

WARNING: if you ever try to get around this type of agreement, you might have to be in college before you regain their trust.

Good Luck!!

Answer #5

Everyone already knew that.

Answer #6

Yeah, and that’s really not a big deal. You’re only fourteen, don’t panic about it. there’s more to life then the internet. Your parents have their reasons, sit down and try to discuss it with them, don’t use reasons like “All my friends have one” actually give them legit reasons. Are you supposed to have an account on here? Or were they against that too? I didn’t even have internet until two years ago and even then it was dial up, there are better things to do with your life.
