How do I activate a new AT&T cell phone without a new contract?

My phone carrier is AT&T, and I haven’t had a formal contract for over 5 years. My minutes are still the same, but the specific minute/price combo no longer exists.(it is better than current plans)My original Nokia phone was never upgraded, and barely holds a charge.I would like to purchase a new or used phone, and switch out my sim card without having to get a new contract. Is that possible without going though AT&T?

Answer #1

that is copletely possible, just as long as the phoe you buy is a brand att sells. I do the exact same thing with my phone, so just as long as the phone is ATT sim card compatable you can just switch the sim card right over and it will still be the same plan just in a new or better phone.
