How come apartments in senior centers get dry?
During the winter months, the apartments in the building where I live get really dry. I live in subsudized housing in one of those Senior centers. It’s dry and it gets cold. What causes apartments in Senior centers to be dry? And cold? Even with our heat on. Is it just poor ventelation? or could the problems be something else? Just wondering. I love my apartment and everything but, My skin gets irratated during the winter months in our building with it being so dry. I keep lotion on to protect my skin.
Most heating systems, especially electric heat (baseboards) cause dryness. To put moisture back into the air, the only answer is a humidifier. Much more comfortable, no more dry itchy skin, chapped lips or static hair.
It could be a mixture of poor ventilation and the make-up of the building. My house is a brick house, and it gets SUPER cold in the house sometimes in the winter, sometimes colder than the outside temperature.
