How clear an idea should I have of my future?

I’m 15 in the 10th grade and was wondering how clear an idea I should have of my future. I know what subjects I’m strong in but don’t know if its necessarily where I want to go career-wise. For example I’m strong in math, especially algebra. But I absolutely love acting, singing, stuff like that. But being an Asian, I know that the chances of me making it big in that way is zero, or pretty damn close. And I don’t have the money to even try to make it by moving to Hollywood or something like that. My friends all seem to have ideas of what they want to do, like Harvard or whatever. I’m just very confused right now. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

I’m twenty and I am just starting to figure it all out. Like ‘amblessed’ said, pray for guidence in the meantime. Take a look (like you have been) at your hobbies and what you are good at, but dont dwell on what your future career will be. And NEVER, EVER think that just because of your ethnicity, you wont be able to do something. That is not true. You are perfectly capable of anything you want to do no matter what the color of your skin is. … I would start looking at colleges that have a good academic background, and if you are serious about the fine arts, then join your drama team or/and your choir. They look great on applications. … But like I said, I’m 20, been out of high school for 2 1/2 years now and I am just now thinking about going to school to pursue my childcare degree. Good luck. <3

I’m 23 and going to college to per sue my career. You just have to think realistic and positive. You have allot of time to think about this. I’d say give this to Heavenly Father and see what you come up with. Think about the Hobbies you’re real good at, and think about looking into colleges that’ll except you for who you are not because of race and all that. It shouldn’t matter if you’re Asian or not, as long as you get a good education. Good luck, and I hope you choose what’s right for you.

You’ve got plenty of time to figure out what you’d truely like to do (a career you’d do even if they didn’t pay you ! - don’t tell them that though, LOL) - were me, I’d pray for guidance and in the meantime, work til the light turns on or just continue with your education in a general area - ask questions of others you admire about their careers (likes / dislikes) and you can get a lot of ideas just looking through the yellow pages at different careers - you’ll be fine…I wish you every success !!
