how can I tell if a guy likes me or not?

I can’t tell if this guy likes me or maybe my friend…….? well last week my friend and this other girl and me were playing cards since we got done with our work and he came over and started playing with us and he sat next to me and started guessing what cards I had (we were playing 21.). today there was a funny smell in the classroom (foods) and my friend asked what it was and how it smelled like rotten potatoes. he came over ,b/c he sits infront of my friend, and started talking about how he hated the smell of rotten potatoes while looking at me and joking about it some.later we had to get in groups and make baked potatoes with cheese sauce. this guy was in a different group, but he came over to ours a lot and talked to my friend and asked us for stuff.( like aluminum foil.) he came over atleast 3-4 times, if not more, but didn’t really go to the other groups…….maybe he was just being nice? well im sry that this is so long, but thanks if you answer this.
