How can I start my period?

I was 13 in May, and I have not started my period yet. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to start? (Like eat something spicy etc.) I am scared I may never start and will never be able to have kids. Why haven’t I started yet. I a worried.

A girl is always so excited to start their period for the first time–it really makes you feel so grown. I remember. way back when, and I know from experience and my friends, and now my daughter (she’s 14-started when she was about 12 1/1)–in several months you will be wishing you hadn’t! Lol No dear. Nothing can be done at this age to make you start your period other than your body and hormones. A girl will normally start her period for the 1st time about a year after the breast buds appear. The breast buds are hard, mound like areas and are directly under the nipple and areola. So, if your breasts have begun to develop you can usually expect to start your period about year after. But, some girls do start earlier than others as some start later than others. Also, after the breast buds appear you may start noticing a thin, white discharge in your panties. This discharge is another indicator that your period is on its way. If you haven’t started by the time your are 15-16, tell your Dr. at your next exam and he/she may refer you to an OB/GYB (obstetrician/gynecologist)–this is a Dr. who practices womens health and the care of the mother while pregnant and delivers the baby. They can test to see why you haven’t started to menstruate. At your age though, I’m sure you are probably showing some early signs as I’ve listed and just never paid that much attention to them. You may be closer than you think!! Hope this helped! {•:)>

Yes, I did leave that part out. Genetics may play a part in it as well, but as cherryxx said, everyone is different. (=

Don’t worry, it’s perfectly normal. There are many things that can delay a period. If you are an active person that can delay it, if you’re on the lighter side weight wise it can delay it even something as simple as eating habits can delay a period. If you haven’t had one by 16 then consult your doctor. The average age is 12 but anywhere between 8 and 16 is normal :) There really isn’t any way to make yourself start but my first time I didn’t have any warning signs. I was lucky enough to discover it before any embaressing mishaps but make sure you are aware that it could happen anytime. Some woman once they start never have a normal schedule, many go months between periods. I myself fluctuate between monthly and bi-monthly so don’t let that startle you either once you do start :). Make sure you drink fluids and be aware that some women have it heavier then others and you will feel drowsy when it does come. Some woman can become anemic and others have a 4 day flow and they are done without missing a beat. I hope this helps you :)
