how can I publish my photos?

my friend is a photographer as well. he does it as a hobby but it has taken him very far. he began joining a photography website. People post their work and get feedback. he joined about 3 websites, but you can join as many as you want. Later, he posted them on Myspace and befriended those with similar interests in photography and soon you begin to get noticed by other people and those people have connections. One of his photographs was used for the background for a poster advertising a concert going on.

And his big break was when he was asked to attend a gallery opening in Austria. He wasn’t able to go but he gave authorization to the company organizing the event to use his photos. And he’s still being recognized. He began this hobby around 4 years ago and he had no experience. oh and his photography is polaroids. He does not photoshop his photos either, he uses different film to get different color tones and different effects but it’s completely real. sometimes it’s a good thing, a lot of people out there like it for it’s authenticity. and the website he joined where he got recognized is www.polanoid.net
