How can I get over what has happened in the past week 1/2?

So I’ll start with –December 3 ‘09– I had this big thing I had to do and I was supposed to anwser a bunch of questions I was stressed and my mom was screaming at me so she takes my phone. I was very tempted that night to cut myself but I couldn’t because I had a show Saturday –December 4 ‘09– My grandma had breast cancer removed. –December 5 ‘09– Had the show. Really wanted to cut but was too tired. –December 7 ‘09– Two of my friends got in a big fight and to make matters worse they were dating I really liked the guy. I’m pretty sure he did at the time because the night before he said “, You. Me. Your bed. ;) shhh.”

–December 8 ‘09 (today)– They broke up. I started going out with him but we have to keep it a big secert because my mom said I wasn’t allowed to “date” him. Don’t ask about the “” its my mom. –Question– So is my cutting a problem since I only do it when someone gets mad at me for no reason or my parents fight. –Don’t tell me not to go out with this guy–

hey, I was a cutter too, and it took a long time and a lot of relapses before I finally stopped. I do still have cravings, those will never go away, you just learn how to avoid them and how to deal w/ them when they happen. there are lots of diff. ways 2 ease the crave w/o indulging in it. one is use a red marker (not hard, just for the visual effect), another is keep a rubber band on your wrist and snap it when you get the urge 2 cut, ice cubes also work ( the cold of the cube acts as the pain of the cut), recognize that the stressors that make you want to cut are no reason for you 2 do so at all, detach your self emotionally form fights and such because its the other persons problem, you dont have 2 hurt urself 4 their sake. also, these are things that really work 4 me, I write on my mirror everything that I am thinking w/ a dry erase marker ( or scribble on it) so that I can get it out of my head, then I erase it like im erasing it from my mind, I also draw and write (not at all neatly, just so that I get it out) in my sketchbook when im having a serious craving until I’ve past the biggest part of the craving, I also listen to really heavy metal music and sometimes scream to it (lets out the frustration), I also sculpt, it helps me get out the frustration of everything by chopping and hammering at something, I have a safe place too, its someplace that I can go when the house gets 2 much for me to handle, I also have a list of friends that I have asked if I can call them at anytime if im dealing w/ an urge and have 2 b w/ someone (like a support group) just make sure you talk 2 someone you really trust. I mean if you want me 2 be one of those support people for you then thats fine by me, just message me and I can give you my phone number. I dont want to see someone go through everything I had to go through in order to learn how to deal with the ever persistent cravings. I wanna help, so please let me do so. but mind u, if your one of those people who just wanna indulge in the habit and talk about it w/ a common other, then count me out. ill help you quit, but im not gonna help you indulge in its guilty pleasure. I still have to deal w/ my cravings after all, and talking about it 2 much in such a fashion just makes me want to do it more.

  1. Take up boxing & release your anger & frustrations that way instead. You will feel better & also get fit & improve self defense.

  2. Remind yourself of the many many thousands of people in the world who are worse off than you and would kill to trade places. Be grateful for what you DO have, even though you may not think it’s all that great. Focus on anything positive you possibly can. Hormones go crazy when you are young & can make problems seem magnified but really, they aren’t THAT bad. You will get older and settle down and realise things are okay.

You will be alright.

Yes it can be a problem. Just dont do it. Its not worth harming yourself to numb the pain.
