How can I get my son to stop watching TV?
Put your foot down. Establish a time limit for TV watching per day, or make it a reward if he does his homework or house chores.
Buy educational games or even just family games to play with him instead. This will help his interpersonal relationships in the long run. I hate TV.
When he does watch TV, have him put on something educational. It can be a good learning tool if something other than mindless cartoons are on.
