How can I become friends with this girl?

Theres this girl on my softball team and nobdy ever talks to her and shes always all alone. And people make fun of her because shes no good at it and stuff I guess in school shes like the “popular” girl, or at least one of them. but I want to be more friendly to her and maybe, be friends, because she doesnt have any on the team.

I guess its because I know how it feels to be in her position, and I just want to make her feel like shes not out of place there, because it took a lot of courage for her to actually join this late of an age on a team with much more experienced girls, knowing that she wasnt going to be that good and made fun of.

So the point is, I would like to start to talk to her and be friendly, but I dont know how to do that without being awkward.. ??? any advice?

Just talk to her. She’ll probably be so thankful someone is nice enough to address her. Maybe you could start the conversation by encouraging her or giving her some tips, or maybe even offering to practice with her sometime.
