How Can I Become A Professional Lyricist?

Hi. :)

I’ve been writing lyrics for nearly two years, and feel confident that my ability is good enough to turn them into proper songs, so I’d like to become a professional lyricist.

Does anybody know how I could do this?

NOTE: I’m sixteen, and I’m currently still in full-time education.

Thanks in advance. :)

Get a seperate journal, and as an exercise, write at least two pages a day. It’s similar to writing a diary with the exception that there are no rules. Anything that is on your mind no matter how mundane it seems, if you have nothing to say, you write two pages of “nothing to say”. If you make this exercise part of your daily routine, soon you will see that when you sit down to write creatively, your mind will flow with suprising ease, sharpening your skills and confidence as a lyricist, poet, or writer.

I recently entered a lyricist competition and got booted out in the semi finals. You could do that? Or you could find yourself a good artist or band and work with them? It doesn’t matter if you’re in full time education. I’m only thirteen and I almost made it.

I’m also looking to become a professional lyricist in my teen years. I’m 16 and have been writing for three years. If you have found anything please let me know, as I will with my search.
