How big are files recorded from capture cards?

Obviously it would depend on the length of the clip…and the quality I record in but would it totally mess up my laptop? It’s a pretty middle of the range laptop and I have the specs to install the Capture card but I’m not sure whether it could take the expectedly large file sizes…I will be recording Call of Duty from my xbox, if that helps. Does anyone else have one? Thanks

no but you can plug it into your pc and set it to save the files onto your external hdd ;)

So can I plug my dazzle into an external hard-disk rather than straight to my pc? Thanks guys

Answer #3

What you can do is save the recording to an external drive so that way when your done doing what ever it is with the video recording you can delete it off your computer. As for the size not to sure but I think 10 minutes of recording will suffice. That being said 10 minutes at times may be a little to much so adjust yourself to the capacity your computer can handle.

I use fraps to record my gaming on my pc and 2 mins of film is around 1gig @ 50% my original resolution…

I then use other software to reduce it to 150mb so I can upload to yahoo

id guess that because a telly resolution doesnt even come close to a monitor resolution that itll be a lot smaller than mine…

I also use dazzle dvd recorder to transfer all my old videos to my hdd so I can convert them to and put them on dvd and once the video had been recorded to my hdd a 1.5 hour film was around 8 to 12 gig…

id say that as long as your hdd is at least 160gig youll get some decent length film…
