How bad is my burn?

alrite so my friend was making hot dogs on the stove with a pan, and he took it while cooking the hot dog and put it on my arm. the burn mark is all red and hurts a lot… what can I do to ease the pain? oh and I put an ice pack on it when I first got burned.

Sounds like a 1st degree burn, one that affects the epidermis of skin. I would be a bit careful with putting an ice pack right after you got burned, such rapid changes in temperature can worsen the burn. Instead of the ice pack, use cool water and keep your hand in it for about 10 minutes for the least. Try to keep the burn wrapped as it can get easily infected, use cling wrap to avoid any infections. Any type of burn should be looked at by a doctor to ensure that it will heal properly.
