are any of you watching tyra rite now. its a new episode about young teen females and sex and how to communicate w/ the mom. I just want to know what’s your view point on young teen sex and would you buy your kid condoms? Thanx♥

I have always been very open with my kids, and they’ve always been open with me. That doesn’t mean I know what they’re doing all the time.

When my oldest daughter was 14, she admitted to me that she was sexually active. Yes, I was disappointed, but she also informed me that she’s been using precautions and being safe about it.

The fact that she was honest with me and that she’s being smart has helped me to manage the situation. While I didn’t approve or encourage it, I would much rather know that my daughter is being safe. They give condoms out at her school for free, so I never had to buy her any, but open communication is very important and I think that parents who try to drive fear into their children instead of understanding are walking a slippery slope.
