Housing and rent question!

4 other girls and I are renting a house and it’s $1,170 a month. -there are 2 normal size rooms on the main level -one larger room upstairs -and a normal size loft area upstairs (which could be a room) but the thing is it doesnt have a door for privacy :( -2 of the girls are going to be sharing the larger bedroom upstairs -the person in the loft area should have a lower rent then the others because there is no door and such.

I dont know what the best way to split the rent is. Please help!! What are your opinions on how much should each person pay depending on which room or loft they get…

Thanks!

Amblessed is right in saying that everything should be agreed to in writing and signed.

The problem I have with the advice is that a curtain or sheet does NOT replace a door. Sometimes there are noises or things that you want to make sure are kept private, and nothing beats a door and a lock.

If privacy is the criteria for lower rent…what about the two who are sharing a room?? There’s NO privacy there.

For the room with no door, you could hang a curtain or sheet in the opening - 3 pay $295, 1 pays $285 - make sure this is all agreed to ‘in writing and signed’ !! - sit down and set reasonable house rules - maybe dishes, visitors, noise, bathroom time / keeping clean, etc - maybe consider 1 night a week for each for a certain amount of hours, to have the house alone…be safe and have a great time !!
