Homemade hard casts for broken bones!

Does anyone knowhoe to make homemade hard casts that won’t come off, like the kind they give you when you break a bone? Cause recently I broke my wrist and I don’t want to have to pay to get one if I can figure out how to make one..PLEASE HELP

use plaster of paris and guaze. Dip the POP covered gauze and water and rap your arm. you should probably shave the area first and coveer it in gauze without POP on it. These a**holes obviously cant read for you say you dont have the money.

sisienne,

You posted this and then later made a posting about eating meat. The “broken wrist” doesn’t seem to be bothering you very much, as you seem to be typing very well.

If it’s broken go to the doctor. If you were just making a fictitious posting then quit wasting the time of people who are concerned and trying to help you.

If you’re that sure it needs a cast, it needs to be done by a professional. If you stick one on wrongly, it could mess up you’re hand for good.

It all depends on how bad your break is. If you have a bone that needs to be set, then you need to see a doctor for sure. otherwise you will live a very long painful life with your hand or arm not working correctly. But if it is something little that you think will heal on its own without future harm, I would go to the Drug store and get very soft gauze and wrap it as if it were sprained. I would first rub some kind of oil to your skin. Then I would wrap some kind of breathable ,ace bandage around that, like a sprained wrist . Then I would go to the hardware strore and pick up and container of plasture paris… find some kid of fiber glass strips wrap that wrap around your arm as well and then read the directions for the plaster paris spread it on and then let it dry. But seriously it would be wise to pay the extra cash to a doctor than to spend it at the hardware store.

Jakeins is right. If a bone heals wrong, it can cripple you. Then the solution to regain use is to RE-BREAK the bone and set it properly. And I can testify that it will never be the same. You can take a chance if you want. But, it might well be false economy - cost a lot more later. If you cannot afford care, there may be free clinics nearby in Ogden or Salt Lake City, or a county hospitol that can help you. Best not to wait. Good Luck!!

Like jakeins said, it needs to be done by a professional. You don’t know how broken your wrist is, and it needs to be aligned properly (you wouldn’t know how to without proper equipment) before getting it in a cast. You HAVE to see a doctor soon, it’s not good to leave a broken bone broken for that long, your wrist might heal crooked.

Answer #7

Then you should get to a doctor and have it casted. The wrist is a very complicated joint. It needs to be seen by a professional who will X-ray it, see where the break is located, manipulate it if necessary, putting the bones back in their proper places, then immobilize it so the bones can grow back together. If done improperly you may loose much of the mobility of the wrist, will surely start gathering calcium around the break - read arthritis - and may be in pain the rest of your life. If your mom is an EMT she should have an air cast she can put on you till you get it to a doctor.
