Hiding money from the IRS: bad idea #23

I was reading an article in money magazine yesterday about the number of people that get audited each year, and how the IRS uses statistics to determine who should get audited, and also the amount of money you make. Bottom line, if you’re doing well, you should be more honest than the next guy. Even if you’re doing badly, it doesn’t pay to try to cheat the system, because from the sound of it, audits are on the rise significantly.

Me, I’ll be paying Uncle Sam my fair share…and then crying about it later :( On a brighter note though, I will be trying to put some money away for retirement. That’s one legal way to lower your tax bill. How about you?

Hi thedude,

I am lucky :) My dad still claims me as a dependent since I’m still in school, so I don’t have to deal with taxes yet. I also, however, don’t ever get any refunds. So I guess it’s a win-lose situation!
