Answer #1

yes, someone who practices judaism or people who were born to a Jewish family regardless of whether or not they follow the religion, those who have some Jewish ancestral background or lineage (sometimes including those who do not have strictly matrilineal descent), and people without any Jewish ancestral background or lineage who have formally converted to Judaism and therefore are followers of the religion.

If you are born to a jewish mother you are a jew, doesn’t matter if you practice judaism or not.

Famous jews… Albert Einstein, scientist Ruth Bader Ginsburg, supreme court justice Isaac Asimov, author Sandy Koufax, baseball player Oksana Baiul, figure skater Kerri Strug, gymnast Mark Spitz, swimmer Paul Rudd, actor Adam Sandler, actor Sean Penn, actor Sarah Jessica Parker, actor

and so on…

*although, unfortunately the word jew can also be used as a racial slur, and is often used by racists to imply someone is cheap.

How nice of you to point out something so offensive when not asked…

*Somebody born in Israel is a Jew.

sigh…wrong. Israel is comprised of followers of many religions. Jew is NOT a nationality. G-d did you people just fall off the turnip truck?

Answer #3

Jewish people are the ones who Jesus came to , to share his truth, he called them, his people, and it was the people God had made himself manifest to in the past, yet, they refused to accept him as the Son of God, they were the ones who chose him to die on the cross, and let the thief go free, when Pilate asked them what they wanted, after God had warned him thru a dream given to his wife, concerning the innocence of Jesus.

The Jewish people declared they wanted Jesus to be the one to die, and they also said to let his blood be upon them. Meaning, they wanted him dead, and did not care what the consequences were.

Pilate said, so be it.

The gospel then went to the Gentiles.

The Jewish people for the most part, still reject the truth of Jesus as the Messiah.

God still calls them the apple of his eye, no matter what they have done to his Son, and his message thru the years.

He forgave them, just as he forgives us, when we deny him.

He is love, and his truth stands forever.

Answer #4

A jewish person is a jew. period. You are actually using the word ‘jew’ in it’s racist form. The person asking the question did not. When you are referring to ‘jew background’ or ‘jew families’ it is correct to say ‘jewish background’ or ‘jewish families’. Actually using the word ‘jew’ as you have in your answer is offensive and sounds quite racist as that is how they usually refer to jewish…substituting ‘jew’ where the descriptive ‘jewish’ should be used. For example saying ‘I have a jew family living next door’ or ‘that jew banker’.

If we are trying to establish who has the largest jewish connection, or as you would say the largest ‘jew’ connection, I win. I am jewish of german descent. My entire family except for my parents… grandparents, nieces, nephews, cousins were all killed in the camps.

So, I guess in this…my life and experience are much greater than you having some ‘jew background’ and your great grandfather hiding ‘jew families’.

Again, I state…thanks for pointing out the offensive use of the word, when it was not asked for.

**But then again, perhaps this is why I got the word schmuck tattooed on my butt cheek.

To tattoo a ‘yiddish’ word that means ‘stupid or foolish’ on your rear certainly explains quite a bit about you.

*A Jew is anyone of the descendants of Abraham in the Bible

Judaism also has converts. and please don’t bring Jesus into this. Though he was a jew, the belief in him makes you a christian. And we all know, that is an entirely different faith.

Answer #10

A Jew is anyone of the descendants of Abraham in the Bible. I strongly incourage you to read the Bible, for this is the only truth and because it is and this is a spiritual world, it seems that people are easily lazy when it comes to finding these important truths. If you care for real I have scriptures to share let me know. Jesus was From the Jewish blood line, I have so much to say about it so pease let me know it will make more sense when I use the Bible verse, but again I encourage you to read.
