Help with a quote

I have to interpret this quote until tomorrow: To do just the opposite is also a form of imitation - but I’m not sure what it means. Can you give me some ideas please?

Answer #1

It just means that to do the opposite of something is the same as immitating it .. I think :) Xo

Answer #2

quotation, sorry :)

Answer #3

Well in a way its say that even though you are doing exactly the opposite you are copying the original, in a way because thats how you got the opposite. thats how I see it anyways! hope I was of some insight!

Answer #4

quote?

Answer #5

I reckon it means by doing the oppisit you are still infulanced by the orignal therefor you are immatateing

Answer #6

I reckon its explaining that how to get the opposite you need to be influenced by the original anyway. for example to go against societies conventions you must therefore know and be influenced (in any way) by the conventions that societies set. your still imitating the original but by flipping it on itself and therefore doing the direct opposite
