help please...

My grandmother was put into the hospital about 5 days ago… she’s got bad blood (CO2) and her lungs are filled with water. yesterday we were told she was improving and that her oxygen got better and that some water had already left her lungs and she wasn’t so confussed anymore. today we got the message that the doctors are saying she isn’t going to make it through the night. Is there a posibility that she still might make it and that the doctors arn’t correct? I feel helpless when all I can do is stand by her bedside holding her hand, and have her looking at me with confussed eyes.

Answer #1

it’s not carbon monoxide, it’s carbon dioxide it’s like that becuase she smoked for a long time.

then yeah its carbon monoxide CO is present in cigarettes CO2 isnt… and CO2 can leave the body easily…

Answer #2

Water in her lungs and trouble breathing.. Sounds like she got a case of ammonia, Most elderly people cannot recover from that.. Sorry to tell you but unless she lucks out and her body can hold out she is off.

Answer #3

You just have to trust your doctor. No one on here can tell you unless they are Doctors.

Answer #4

It’s not “ammonia”…it’s pneumonia…and it’s carbon dioxide not carbon monoxide…I assume she’s on oxygen…when you are there, watch the read out of her oxygen level (that the little clothes pin thing on her finger…follow the cord)…My mom went in and out of this often in her last days…

Did they drain her lungs? That helps to get more needed oxygen in.

She could still pull thru…

im sorry to say if its a carbon monoxide poisoning ( CO not CO2) there is a very huge chance she will not make it, CO is very hard to get out of the system once its in, because it bonds with the red blood cells 100 time better than oxygen

there is nothing you or anyone can really do about this, if she continues to be dazed and confused, stay by her side, its better that way, she will fall into a deep sleep before anything else happens…

im sorry…

She is in my thoughts and prayers.
