How to control this nightmare puppy?
hi,I have an 11 week old pup and it won’t do anything it is told.she can be good and I have trained her a little, she can sit, shake a paw, fetch and drop but will only drop her toys, if she gets hold of anything we don’t want her too she wont let go, she also doesn’t know the meaning of no and I am running out of ideas, I have tried locking her in another room when she is naughty, tried a spray bottle, tried clapping hard to make her jump. she just wants everything on her terms today for an example I was trying to do my housework and because she chases the mop when doing my floors I locked her in the kitchen while I cleaned the lounge, now bear in mind she can see me through the glass double doors what I am doing and she was just going loopy, she has scratched all the doors and I was determined I was going to ignore her I did the floor and sat down while the floor dried before I let the dog in but she was still barking so I sat there for one and half hours until she went quiet and then let her in and to try and show her who is boss, did I do the right thing? have you also got any ideas as what to do when she is naughty in general? do you think it is her age? do you think I should only disipline her when she has got out of her puppy stage and has calmed down a little? what do you think about training collars, do you think they work? sorry for the long post but am getting pretty frustrated.
cheers
please dont use a training collar, you will traumatize her. maybe you can take her for a long walk to get some energy out, just make sure its not too hot or cold out and carry a bottle of water for her. it is mainly age, the first year is the worst, the second year gets a little better and by the third year you should be good to go.
She’s only 11 weeks old.Still young. She needs more attention.Maybe she is just seeking for attention? When she grow up she will be more discipline. She is just like a little baby now. That’s why she’ll be naughty.Treat her like a baby.Good luck! ^^
I have a dog exactly the same but she is 11 months old she is a nutcase she chases me around the room trying to bite my ankles or my shoes, chases the broom when im doin the floor sometimes she gets things and shakes thema round and wont let go I have trained her to sit and shake and that but other times she wont listen to me she gets walked every day she is a good dog but so energetics and when she bites its only play biting but sometimes she does it delbratly I put her in her room and then she’ll wee or poo on the floor just in spite so please some1 help me if you can aswell ta
thanks a lot, when I cleaned the floor and she was going mental the back door was open for her to go out as she wished. I will take you guys advice I thought a lot of it was due to her young age, at what age do they calm down and taking more notice? I have to admit when I go out I leave her down stairs not locked up and bless her she doesnt do a thing wrong she just goes to bed and goes to sleep. Today I have bought one of those clickers to train her and I have already got her to lie down, so she is quite quick to learn new things. cheers everyone.
I would take her out while the floor is drying and run around the yard if you have one with her. They just want to play. If there is something she shouldn’t have and it’s at her level, maybe put some hot sauce on it. They think things on the floor belong to them at this stage. My puppy is still getting trained and he is 16weeks. It takes a lot of patience. Do think of them as babies though. That is what they are. Good Luck
roll woth it.. shell get over it when she grows up.
let her grow up more training collars can break and could kill her
Mine is exactly the same! she is now 14wks I got her 2 weeks ago. still trying to train “sit” & “down”. Little monkey is so sweet sometimes yet bites incessently at times. I have had to keep her behind the pet gate in the kitchen which is only a meter from my chair (in the living room) whilst I am working or watchin TV for a bit. She can only come into the living room now for supervised play as she gets overly excited & starts to bite me my clothes & the sofa very quickly. I end up standing in the kitchen with her to spend time with her as there I am higher & she cant/doesn’t bite me so much. Its a shame cause id like to let her in the living room more but its just un-bearable. Is this normal!! Im not sure I can survive 2 years of this!!! argh!
