HELP! hair advice! will my hair grow back..?

OKaayy, so up until this year I’ve had pretty thick hair, but THEN this year I went straightener crazy (tisk tisk, very stupid)… so my hair has went from pretty and thick, to brittle and thin (it is breaking I cant even brush it without pieces like breaking off )

Also it might be important to mention I havnt cut in in about ehhh 6-7 months because im trying to grow it out. (once again VERY STUPID on my part…)

Now heres where I need the help… when I cut off all the screwed up ends, will my hair grow back thick again (I also DONT use a straightner anymore I have naturally curly hair) or will it stay thin and ugly forever??

thx.

hey, im a hairdresser and have to deal with people in the same situation as you all the time, and first of all just want to ask what straighteners you have been using? if they are cheap or have damaged ceramic plates they can cause double the amount of damage, therefore if you was to continue straightening I would advice you to buy decent straighteners and use heat protection products.

luckily your hair grows from inside your scalp, therefore no matter how damaged the ends are it will keep growing. it is important that you allow your hair to regain strength, I would recommend deep conditioning treatments. apply on wet, just been washed hair and leave on for as long as you can (around 30 mins should be enough) do this a couple of times a week to regain strength to your hair cuticles to prevent breakage. regular trims will also strengthen your hair as it will take away frail pieces that are likely to break off. Give yourself around 6 months before straightening your hair again, and always use heat protection.

Good luck, I hope this has helped :) xxx

I had damaged hair too and cut off all my split ends like a month ago. it actually grows faster and looks better. if you cut it…just make sure not to straighten it anymore. let it grow out and your hair will eventually go back to normal.

it will grow back if you use expensive revitalising shampoo and cut off all the crap bits. it shud be right in about 2-3 weeks if you wash your hair every 2 days at least. I’m training to be a hairdresser so I know

go to the hairdressers and ask from them there probs the best people to help you with this. but for now just grow it and dont use straighteners or anything.
