How does the heart pump and function?

Details? im curious (:

Answer #1

The heart is a muscle. As with all muscles, it responds to electrical current with a contracting motion. The parts of your brain that control involuntary functions send a constant electric signal along your nerves to your heart, causing it to rhythmically clench and pump, oxygenating your body and keeping you alive in the process.
