Why is there so much hatred towards Muslims?

This is a rather challenging question to ask as I’m a Muslim myself. I’ve been harassed quite badly before - alcohol bottles thrown at me, getting called a nappy head for wearing the headscarf and I could’ve lost my life due to some ignorant drunken men who were swerving at me and my mother while we were in the car while swearing at us. I’ve been told to go back to my country - when clearly I was born and raised in Australia and I speak fluent English. Of course it’s not only Muslims that get bullied, I’ve seen many people from all different religions getting harassed for different reasons. 

I don’t know what drives people to believe that Muslims are “radical” but I believe the media has a big impact on the way we are seen. The media has led some people to believe that it’s okay to stereotype all Muslims as terrorists. Sure there are bad Muslims, there are all sorts of bad people in every religion, but it’s become okay to put a label on a whole religious group based on the actions of some bad people. There are some who are influenced to believe that they are bad people due to the 9/11 attacking which some people trust Muslims led. 

Ignorance had taken over the world today. What the media portrays Muslims as (mainly radical terrorists) is what people tend to believe. It really is disgusting how being an individual can cause so much hatred. A religion is a religion and anyone is free to follow what they want. If only people really took the time to educate themselves on Islam instead of being so stubborn to throw words around and judge by to the medias twisted stories without having their facts right. I was always taught it’s okay to be different in fact it was the first thing my mother taught me as a child. I guess some people haven’t been taught that. 

Then comes the contradicting thing - culture. Different cultures have different things that may be seen as okay. People who claim themselves as Muslims and do the wrong actions which are tolerated in their culture, are doing exactly that - following their culture, not religion (which some people blame).  

But society has become a judgmental place. Your picked on whether your Muslim, Jew, Christian or if you are black or white or if your skinny or fat. At the end of the day, Islam is a religion just as Christianity and all the other religions out there.  I can say that Islam is a religion of peace, whether you agree or not. I can say that no, it is not accepted for a man to bash his wife, whether you believe it or not. You may choose to understand just from what I tell you, or you can go out there and get some facts then decide yourself on what you want to believe. That’s the way media works I guess. You hear something and it’s upto you to believe it or not. You may need further information to justify your opinion in which you can go out there and get yourself educated. Some people choose to let the media make their choice, others not.  No one should judge a whole tree through a few rotten apples. 

Basically because people are too ignorant to avoid stereotyping.

I believe it mostly derives from the terrorism attack on the States. People are too judgmental and ignorant to see that not all Muslims are like that, that it was a small group that committed such acts. I’ve had a friend who was bullied and ignored during school, people had problems with her scarf, and simply the fact she was muslim. It’s horrid the way people treat people who are different. People need to learn to go above stereotypes and their own ignorance.

what i have to say about this question[why is there so much hatred toward muslim]as a witness of many things that happened in my country, people believe that muslim are really bad people,many people have been killed just because the president is a christian infact people are crying to the federal government to look into the matter if possible that the country should be divided.In my own opinion am not condeming muslim there are some good oneinfact every person right and religion should be respected but muslim should try and check those who think there are pretecting the religion because there may end up destroying it and the lives of their fellow brothers and sisters.

People who kill innocents are no longer “Muslims” even if they claim to be. Muslims shouldn’t be obliged to check out the other followers actions and guide them to the right way - the Quran does that. If someone choose to go against the rulings of the book, then he isn’t a Muslim. There are rules set to all Muslims one of them being that killing innocents isn’t accepted. Everyone lives for themselves. I won’t call these people Muslims at all if they are causing harm to people who have done nothing wrong.

Just for the record Islam is the second biggest religion in the world so it isn’t a minority

Because people are too lazy to learn about Islam and so they trust what the media and what their parents say. People also are quickto steryotype so all Muslims immediately become bad after a terrorist attack. I learned about Islam in school and it taught me a lot about the religion itself. I think it’s judged way too much
