Has anyone else done Challenge Day?

Has anyone else here had Challenge Day come to their school? We had challenge day today. It was an amazing experience. I laughed, I cried, I shared things I never thought I would. I feel so much closer to everyone that was in that room. I’m hoping it will help out our school a lot. Has anyone else gone through Challenge Day? If so, has it helped your school?

Some people may not know what Challenge Day is. So basically, they come to your school for a day, or maybe two like they did with us. The day starts out with some games to get people to lighten up a bit. It’s really a lot of fun. But once everyone has had some fun you get into small groups of 5 or 6 people. You’re not allowed to be with your friends. This is your group for the day. Everyone gets the chance to share something. You start with “If you really knew me..” and finish the sentence. Each member has 2 minutes to talk. A lot of people cried. Then we had lunch. We played another game after lunch. After this game we did the line activity. Jennifer, one of the 2 Challenge Day people, would read something. If it applied to you, you’d cross the line. We had a time where people could apologize to people they’ve hurt over a microphone, and we had a little more time in our small group. Everyone felt so much closer to each other after. Challenge day goes to schools to try and make it a better place, to get people to stop judging each other. It’s an amazing experience.

If you haven’t done this, talk to some one at your high school or your child’s high school and try getting them to go to the school. The kids will thank you. I believe they only go to high schools though.
