Hard lump inside neck?

I was just rubbing my neck because its abit achy. As I was rubbing, I felt this small, hard ball thing INSIDE my neck :S What could this be? I’m already going for physiotherapy because I have back and neck problems, but this has never happened before.

Hi there, I didn’t know many people have this as well. I have a large (large grape or so) hard lump just under my left ear/jaw. I have had it for just over two years…maybe three? I never really thought anything of it maybe that it was a pimple that never wanted to come out? I told my husband a couple weeks ago and had him look at it as it seems to be growing in the last few months and he was sure it was not a pimple. Two days after it started to hurt. I couldn’t sleep on my left side, I got headaches and the left side of my neck and back are starting to hurt as well as the front of my neck. I had been to the doctor and he thinks it’s just a cyst and not my lymph node (my other doctor thinks its a lymph node?!) but I go for an ultrasound next week. He needs to see what it is before he takes further action. The Doctor also said he can cut if out in the office with freezing (I’m not looking forward to that). I believe it’s deep in the muscle and I am concerned it’s lymphoma, however I don’t want to run my mind wild but reading on the net…everything leads to cancer. My Uncle had non-hodgekins lymphoma and it started with a small lump on the side of his neck…anyone have any advice with the ultrasound? I’ve been ordered a whole round of blood work as well-has anyone else have to go thru this?

yeah , I have those too . Its okay , nothing to worry about. I asked my family doctor about them and it was just a lymph node.

Answer #3

I have the same thing. I went to my doctor and she said it was an enlarged lymph node. she said it should go away in a month or so, but if it doesn’t, no worries. it shows that your body is fighting an infection. so im actually glad I have the enlarged lymph node and not the infection. don’t touch it, or else it gets bigger. if you do touch it, wash your hands. you can spread the infection, if you touch other things afterward. it’s not a big deal. it’s actually very common. when I first told my mom about it, she freaked out and thought it was a tumor or something like that.

Answer #4

Could be an enlarged lymph node, or maybe thyroid. I don’t want to say cancer, but that’s always a possibility as well.

Don’t get too worked up about it yet. Just point it out next time you see your physiotherapist and they will put you through the proper examinations

Answer #5

Ichi it’s normal that if you press enough you can actually feel them. But Ally, if they’re not the same kind of lump then it’s best to check it out further.

I have been smoking shisha (tobacco) lately, 2-3 times a week for 2 months, and I have just noticed a lump on the lower right side of my neck… theres no way it can be cancer right? I wouldnt think it would happen this fast :/

Answer #7

Where in your neck? At the back? Side? Throat?

It could be one of many things, more info would help

Answer #9

I don’t have a lump in my neck mystery, and if it were something that was usually there, she’d have noticed it long before now

Answer #10

Everyone has it.

They will be your lymph nodes. The thyroid and parathyroid glands are in the neck, but in the throat and not near the surface.

They’re always there but swell up to obvious lumps with an infection. As long as the bumps are in the normal place (where Frankenstein’s monster’s bolts are) plus the ones that swell up with mumps under the chin you have nothing wrong. If they’re anywhere else, and not part of a pair either side, I’d get them looked at.

Hello My name is brandi I have a lump on my neck also- best advice? Skip the doctor and go straight to the ENT Ear Nose and Throat doc. If the bump is larger then 4cm and doesnt hurt might be a cycst or lymphoma. If it hurts, and you have a sore throat it is a bacterial infection and you need some antibotics. Also it could be Fatty tissue build up if it is small and it moves a little. best advice is to not wait and go to the doctor. I thought I had a bac infection lol I have lymphoma! good luck
