Is it ok if my hamster goes into his bed/home at night?

I got Chief last Saturday and he seems to be settling in nicely. The only issue we have had is his wheel which is really noisy, he wakes up around 8-9pm and does a lot of running and we let him have a go in his ball which he seems to enjoy but we have to take his wheel out around 1:30am when we are going to sleep. Tomorrow I am ordering him a better wheel that should be more quiet then I won’t have to take it out.

When I take his wheel out I replace it with one of those flying saucers, he had a good run on it today and seemed to like it but then he went to sleep about 2:15am and I was wondering if he was ok. I hate the thought of him being board. He has other things in his cage with him.

Any advice will be appreciated, I asked on a hamster forum site but it isn’t loading for me at the moment. Thank you.

Answer #3

I wouldn’t be to worried about it. :)

Answer #4

Thanks, he actually came out again not long after I posted this. Think I’m just worrying a little bit much because I want him to be ok haha.

Answer #5

Awwe! He’ll be fine. Don’t worry. Hamsters are nocturnal animals, but they don’t stay awake all night and sleep all day. You’ll see them come out during the day to drink and eat and maybe gat some attention. At night they are obviosly more active, but they will take a rest if they are tired. Enjoy him and have fun. They are amazing pets. :-)
