Why is it when my hair dries after I take a shower it feels kind of crunchy near the roots?

I had just started using this new thing of shampoo and conditioner and it works alright but I noticed and this is the second time it has happened whenever my hair dries after a shower my hair feels kind of crunchy near the roots. Kind of like how it feels when you put too much mousse or hairspray in your hair but I didn’t put any product in it. I hardly ever have problems with my hair. It never gets oily or frizzy or anything of that I was just wondering why my hair felt that way. Maybe something with the new shampoo but I don’t see how that would’ve caused it

Answer #1

Something similar like this happened to my sister. She had rlly long hair and cut about an inch off of it. Then it went back to normal. Maybe this will help you but im not sure :/

Answer #2

How would cutting off an inch make a difference? Its near my roots. I have to run my fingers through my hair to make it normal

Answer #3

Its most likely dead ends. You should get your hair trimmed every 6 weeks to keep dead and split ends from appearing.

Answer #4

Like I said its not the ends. Its near the roots

Answer #5

Well thts why i wasnt sure lol but it worked for my sister. Idk wierd i know.

Answer #6

Ooops, sorry i read it wrong. I get words mixed up sometimes. =/ But it sounds like it probably is the shampoo it’s drying your scalp and affecting your hair, you should probably stop using it and switch to another shampoo.

Answer #7

Okay I might do that once it runs out. I was also thinking maybe I use too much. Sometimes I overdo it on the shampoo lol

Answer #8

I do that sometimes too. lol It could be that your not getting all of the shampoo rinsed out too. That can also dry it out.

Answer #9

Yeah I think that could be it also. I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks for your advice!

Answer #10

You’re welcome! xD

Answer #11

I’ve had this happen when i didn’t wash out the conditioner well enough. Try rinsing better cause it may be harder to get totally out of your hair then the conditioner you used before.

Answer #12

condisioner helps stop the shampoo drying the roots, but DO NOT use a 2-in-1 they do not work!!!

Answer #13

I think you’re just not rinsing it out properly. I’ve done this once or twice.

Answer #14

Sounds like it is drying out your hair. You want to make sure to wash it out. You should probably switch out when you’re done with this bottle.

Answer #15

Yeah that makes sense. I’m such an idiot lol
