Hair colouring dilemma

So here’s the dealio:

My original hair colour is a dark, slightly reddish brown, anyways I decided to dye it black a couple of months ago. Now, I’m finding it really hard to determin my natural hair colour from the dye, therefore when touching up the roots, I often miss bits. I now wish to dye my hair a shocking red, but how do I get rid of the black? I DON’T WANT TO GROWN IT OUT! Should I bleach it? I heard that black is like IMPOSSIBLE to remove with bleach!

Help please!!!

I definatley wouldn’t go to blonde. Anything lighter than brown is bleach it will dry dry dry your hair out and maybe even turn it green! I would just dye it a light brown to lighten it up a bit let the sun do the rest.

Answer #2

HEY DONT WORRY!!! EVERYONE SAYS THAT BLACK IS LIKE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OUT, BUT THAT ISINT TRUE, THIS IS WHAT I RECOMMEND. GO TO CVS OR WALGREENS AND BUT THIS PRODUCT CALLED Color Oops. IT REALLY WORKS. OR MIX BAKING SODA INTO YOUR SHAMPOO, OR YOU CAN ALSO PUT LEMON AND LET THE SUN HIT IT SO IT CAN LIGHTEN UP. DO NOT BLEACH!!! IT WILL JUST MESS UP YOUR HAIR AND MAKE IT FEEL LIKE STRAW

I am a hairstylist, though I haven’t practiced in years, I would think it would be difficult to remove black hair dye by bleaching. You could try using a blonde hair color. My hair is dark brown and when I use a blonde color, it comes up a medium to light brown. You could try that first. Just get a Clairol Balsom. They’re inexpensive and work just fine. See how that does and go from there. You don’t have to rush to do it. The longer you wait, the better. It’s just not healthy for your hair to keep dying it. One more thing…you can go to Clairol.com and they can give you professional advice.

Good luck.

When in doubt see a hair stylist. They can provide you some advice in regards to your dilemma. I wouldn’t just do what ever a column like this says. Because Your hair may go green, it may go red. It may just lose your hair. Which is worse? People have different textures of hair. Fine/Thick/Curly/Straight etc.

I would think that if you have thin hair and you are doing something drastic without consulting with a professional first could be tramatizing.

My advice: Check the box that you coloured your hair with and if you cannot remember go to the store and look at the colour swatch on the top of the box and the name. Contact the number on the box and find out the information you are seeking for. For example: I use Feria, so I would contact: lorealparis.com or use their 1-800 number for advice.

Hope it worked out for you. P.S. I am Brunette, going blond was the most drastic thing I ever did for my thick, curly hair. It killed it.

It depends on how porous your hair is. My hair is hard to bleach from black it usually turns a copper color. If your hair does as mine does then a shocking red should cover the copper fine. :3
