Grinding your teeth

My 20 year old son grinds his teeth when he sleeps. now sometimes he says his jaw wants to lock on him. is there anybody out there that experiences this problem and he also says his gums are coming away from his teeth. just know he lives on his own. looking for advice to let him know.

I don’t think it’s not so much his jaw locking, but the fluid that keep the joints in his jaw working properly has been depleted quickly from that activity. Does his jaw sometimes make a ‘pop’ sound when he tries to open his mouth? Is his jaw so painful sometimes that he can barely open his mouth? Then it could be the case. Taking Glucosamine daily would help.

Although, please don’t take this as professional medical advice, it’s just something I’ve been through as well, but it could be a few other things too. And seeing as he has gum problems, your son should see a dentist as soon as possible.
