Why is there so much greed?

Why is there so much greed? No one seems to value integrity and honesty. Just having lots of stuff and money and who cares how you get it! What causes this?

I know what you mean…. One thing to try is NOT to judge….This judging (even when you are right) Can really eat away at you. I know myself..when I see or hear people express their greed, I really look at them as a self centered individual, all the while I am trying not to judge.

My Dad was this way….he would try to do whatever he had to (even if it meant stealing from me his own son) to make a few extra dollars OR to look good to the public OR his friends/family etc…any way to get ahead. I really watched him closely through the years and I noticed that he was a miserable human being. He was abusuve, hateful, NO INTEGRITY, and he was one of those types you talk about in your question. It seems to me that these types really have nothing else in life..(even if they have family, friends, money, title etc..) they don’t know how to be satisfied. This is why they are greedy and selfish because this is all they have, with no worries as to who they might hurt, because they have no real true relationship with anyone (including family). So from our side looking in, it appears that they have money or fame or a big title and they also have peace. But the motivation behind it is insecurity and fear. If you would give someone like this one million dollars they would HAVE to have 2 million. It is sad that they have no TRUE peace within themeselves. Of course not everyone with money is evil and I believe alot of wealthy people out there are at peace with themselves, and along with that peace they have material wealth. The next time you feel that towards someone try and not judge them, just try and understand that insecure people are poor, they are middle class, they are upper middle class, they are millionaires, they are billonaires. That insecurity and fear does not discriminate. They may be in the press or TV more, simply because of money, title, movie star etc…. Remember try not and judge..just don’t let it control you and your feelings about people, because this can in return hurt you. Familycoach

In western society, I’d blame commercials, mass media, and the celebrity phenomenon. Everybody who is uber rich just wants more money, to outshine the other celebrties.
