silverwings, the scriptures used by the earliest Christians, and the first collection of those scriptures to be called the Bible, are not the same as what you read out of today. Not even close. In fact, your lack of knowledge of how the Bible came together explains a lot.

The early Christians had no Bible, they had the Septuagint and hundreds of other books in circulation which they revered as holy and God-given (including the Infancy Gospel of Thomas…read it some time). Soon, bishops and church leaders began to have debates about which books were truly “word of God”. These debates were not kind, gentle discussions, but angry, bitter and intense, with congregations and communities dividing.

To make a long story shorter, synods were held in Rome, in Hippo, and in Carthage in the late 4th century to decide the matter. Men like St. Jerome and St. Augustine gave opinions on why different books should be used by Christians. At the Synod of Rome, a list of canonical books was spelled out. This was in 382, not 200, which you seem to think. And it was the first time the Bible as we know it was formed. St. Jerome was told to translate these into one document, which he did, at the Pope’s decree. Other synods at Hippo and Carthage reaffirmed Rome’s decision.

That Bible includes many books which Protestants do not recognize today.

In addition, there have been many mistranslations of the Bible into English as well as other languages, starting with the KJV version. Words like “witchcraft” have many meanings and also do not accurately reflect their Hebrew and Greek counterparts. There are also numerous forgeries in the Bible. http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_bibl.htm

The more you know about the Bible’s history, the more you will realize it is a collection of writings by men, compiled by a vote at several church councils. That is all.

Answer #2

If you study the history of the bible, you find that it was first given to holy men of God, that were moved upon by the Holy Spirit.

The revelations of the spirit, were considered precious to those receiving them, they were protected and handed down from generation to generation, from believer to believer, then, around 200 AD, the scriptures, that have been considered as revelation, were brought together, and a bible was formed, that included the Old Test. and the New Test.

The majority of believers, then and now, agree on these scriptures, and are willing to base their lives upon them.

They are now, and probably always have been under fire, (now more so than ever before) but, they are designed to stand the test of time.

They are just as revelant today, as they were when they were first given.

The annointing and the power of the Holy spirit, are upon the words written within the pages of the Holy Bible, and they still have the power to convict men of their sins and trespasses.

Believers have died to protect these holy scriptures. Many have shed their blood, in trying to get versions translated into wording that the common man can read and understand.

This was no easy task.

It is still continuing today.

New versions are still coming forth, when it is found that some group of people need them in their own dialect.

The faith of the fathers has been handed down to the children.

Millions of faithful followers have put their trust in the bible over the centuries, and many still do.
