What is a good, trustworthy literature magazine or journal that I could get my poetry published in and for money?

Answer #1

First, did you already copyright them? Some ideas on that, here: http://www.funadvice.com/q/i_write_poems_and_want_my_poems_published

Second…you do realize that poetry is incredibly hard to get published b/c the fact is, poetry books don’t sell very well. Try a few magazines (you read those right?) and or sites that you read poetry on…b/c the big thing with writing is you need to connect with other writers, to know that your work is original, etc…b/c most stuff isn’t very unique the odds of it getting published are next to zero :(

However, if it’s something you’re passionate about, start a wordpress blog or blogger blog (both are free) after you publish each poem, and start telling friends + family about it…in addition to networking with other writers.

You might try here: http://funadvice.com/r/3ke5u57lns however, you give up copyright…so read the fine print, however it seems like they pay a decent number.

The other thing to consider is cafepress, zazzle, or similar, if you write short form, you may be able to make more money putting your poetic skills to use creating products that people buy, rather than selling a book, or poems by the line…

Well the first thing I want is to be noticed, you kknow. I’m not going for making a poetry book just yet, and trust me, when I make this book, its going to be sold. Ellen Hopkins books Glass and Crank, etc are full of poems and are great sellers. So i do not entirely agree. Right now i’m just going for be recognized. I’ve already been published in Teen Ink’s magazine, and TeenInk.com, but i don’t want that to be the only place I rely on getting recognized. But thanks. I guess I do have to copyright them first. :)
