ok, i got it done.twice. so i know everything there is to know. So Ill begin with the process of it. you go to a shop. Usually have to be 16-18 uears old, depending on the shop. The good shops with boost the age up to 16 + . Also it will cost anywhere betwee 30-60$ Mine cost 60$. i went to a place called perfect image, but i dont know if it is where u live. First they will make you swish some mouth wash.then you can have a glass of water. its just to clean your mouth. They dry it, mark it with a special skin marker, and ask you if thats where you want it. Then they show you the needles, and that everythings staryl, and then they count to three, and push it through. It will hurt. And you might feel light headed. I almost passed out, but i dont take pain very well, and everyones differnt. The she/he will tell you that you need to use mouth wash doulated with water every time you eat or drink anything thats not water or ice.you just have to take a water bottle, dump out about 5 inches worth of water, and then fill it to the top with mouth wash, adn then just shake it. Then after about 6 weeks of doing that, you can start to switch to salt water, if you still feel its not healed, or ifyou simply still want to use it. Theres no harm in useing it when ever. DO NOT try to change the piercing to a different one until about 6-8 weeks. It will not be healed yet, and it will greater you chances of getting an infection. after it does heal, make sure to change it to plastic balls, so that you lessen the risk of chipping your teeth. Your tonuge will be swollen for about 2-3 weeks. And it is very noticable, so you cannot hid it from your parents. And when you talking they will eventually see the ball. when your eating, it will be akward at first. until you get used to it. You have to chew your food on one side of your mouth, and dont forget to ue the mouth wash mix after that ! you also dont want to eat saalty foods in the beginning couple weeks. it might burn and cause infection. If t gets infected, you should go to your piercing shop, and ask them what to do. it could leed to death. Be warned. So make sure you take care of it. When brushing your teeth, if you also brush your tonuge, just brush around it. I hope this all helped. they are fun, and they look cool. But if you dont take care of them, then you will be in for some harsh out comes. Good luck !

OKay, I have 13 piercings that I have sucessfully done myself. I can tell you that I got my tongue professionally. They apply a clamp and ask you not to pull your tongue in your mouth. If you do it will come out crooked and the barbell will most likely irritate your mouth. They put a longer barbell, longer than the standard 5/8ths shaft. Your tongue starts swelling immediatly. I did not bleed much, however it makes you drool. It also makes it nearly impossible to swallow because the swelling of the back tongue, so they give you a paper towel. So dont get it done if you plan on going shopping right after. haha… When you eat, you have to focus carefully for the first week or so because dispite the decrease in swelling after 3 or 4 days, your tongue is still too swollen for a standard bar. I stress that you wait until the swelling is gone, about a week and 2 days, before changing it. If you change it too soon, it will put pressure on the tongue and cause bleeding. The underside of your tongue gets blue and purple sploches, Its bruising because a needle just went through a muscle. I thought I was loosing circulation to my tongue and freaked. Haha. So it is normal. As soon as you can change it, if you dont like the standard 6 mm (millimeter) ball on the shafts, you can downsize to a 4 or 5 mm. That way it becomes a smaller object in your mouth. Another thing that can help is acrylic balls will help prevent chipping your teeth. They break before your teeth will. Thats why I would say advoid titanium at all costs, Titanium is one of the strongest metals. OUCH! It does hurt biting on it. If you have issues biting on the barbell, even when it is the smaller shorter one, try switching to PTFE. Its a flexable bio plastic style barbel. I reccomend getting it from PainfulPleasures online. They specially craft theres without a seam, so you dont have a rough edge on the part that goes into your tongue. I love my tongue ring and I think it was totally worth it. Just takes about 3 days of really good patients and you will get through it.
