1 cup bleach to 1 gallon of water. Put it in a sprayer like you use on your lawn or the bug guy carries. Spray everything down. Let soak for 20 mins. Wash down and make sure you remove all matter (like potty particles) dirt, old food any thing that a rodent or roach or fly can carry off.. Rinse.

Yard, make sure you have picked up all waste, haul off old boards, boxes, anything that has possibly come in contact with infected dogs waste, urine etc. Get your bleach and water and spray all areas down. Let soak for 20 mins. It will kill your grass. Let set in the sunshine. Pravo can stay in the soil of a treated yard for about 5 mos.

Bleach as phrannie has said is the only thing that kills it. I did read something the other day that said sun did, but I have only heard that once and I would not chance it.

Pravo can be transferred on the bottom of shoes, animal’s feet. Rodents, flies and roaches can transfer the virus. So make sure you have a Bug Man come in and treat your house. They also will treat for rodents.

You have done a good job being responsible, if only all people that have had this virus in their homes were.

As long as they are vacinated you should be safe. However unvacinated animals will be at a very hight risk. Parvo can live in the enviorment where the infected dog was for over a year. You can try bleaching but that does not always help. Just be safe and I would call a vet with any questions.

If the other dogs in the neighborhood are vaccinated, they will be immue to the disease…tho, once you’ve cleaned your yard and puppy area, do not let other dogs in, as Parvo is carried on their feet. They may be immue to it, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t packing it around on the bottoms of their feet.

So…you can reassure your neighbors, that since they have gotten their dogs their shots, they are fine.

I hope you are using bleach to disinfect everything with…it is the only agent that will kill the virus within minutes.

well, I work at my local shelter, I’ve been there for 2 and a half years and am considered one of the elder volunteers even though Im only 13, and have had plenty of little tips on getting rid of the practically fatal parvo disease, id say that if youd warn all the other dog owners, and you clean your yard and house as much as possibly as you can then I say that its really not lkely that the other dogs in the hood wont get parvo, talk to your local vet about it though, unless you already have, good luck!
