Getting braces

Hey :)

I am getting braces in about 2 weeks time and I was wondering how long it hurts for? I am quite scared as I hate having toothache. Also do you talk funny after they are fitted? Thanks x

I just got my braces on today trust me it hurts when you get the spacers put on when you get home just take a pain reliever and then go to sleep when you wake up ask your parent when you took the medicine trust me if you don’t take a pain reliever you will be in so much pain

well if you get spacers before it hurts way worse than if you didn’t. it usually helps if you take some painkillers before you go get them on or your braces tightened. They usually hurt for about 3 to 4 days afterwards so eat soft stuff like soup and ice cream. My mom and I have a tradition that for the rest of the day after I get them tightened that I get to eat ice cream all day. =) I didn’t talk funny but everyone I saw after getting them on was like WOW your lips are BIG!

Getting braces isn’t that bad. Yeah the first couple days do not eat hard or chewy foods. I use to cut pizza up into small bites so I didn’t have to bite into it. It only hurts a couple days, and having a pain reliever like Motrin, or Aleve does help, just do not take to many.

Having braces will help you for when you are older. If you don’t it can cause nerve damage in your gum line, then you will really have problems. Good Luck, and don’t worry, if you follow directions, they will be off in no time.

it only hurts for a dew hours… you talk a little bit… just make sure when you go that you have some painkillers ready for you when you get done and dont eat any hard/chewy food… what I had all the time was smoothies…uuummm … good luck

It really depends on what they do to your teeth, and how you handle pain. Mine hurt for the first 3 days I think, but I just ate ice cream and cold things to make the pain go away. You might talk funny, but it really does just depend on who is getting the braces. I had a bar at the top of my mouth keeping my back teeth from moving…so I wasn’t able to say words like cookie or anything lol.

Good luck getting them!! :p

p.s. always wear your rubber bands…they REALLY do help get them off sooner.
