Geodesic Dome Home

I am interested in building a geodesic dome home and was wondering what it would cost and how well it woulc stand up to beach weather.

well mathematically speaking, sphere takes up a lot less material to build than say a square or a rectangle, depending on whether you are willing to have steel reinforced concrete night take a bit of material, but the bright side is that it would probably withstand a hurricane hit, maybe not flooding but a direct hurricane hit.

beach weather depends on where you are on the globe, so if you plan on building it somewhere where there’s a slim to no chance of above mentioned natural disaster then you can probably get away with not getting steel reinforced concrete.

now typically, domes have been very successful as an architechtural entity, ancient muslim rulers and architects all built domes buildings and some of them are long standing, Ex. The beautiful mosques of Iraq (NOW WASTED TO THE GROUND), Jerusalem, and Turkey are key regions where domed buildings are found…….they are relatively stable because they don’t have rough edges and are similar from one point to the next…………trust me ppl wouldn’t keep on building domes as their prayer buildings if there was somthing major wrong with it……….that would b silly wouldn’t it, in fact one of the greatest mosques of the ancient Era is now a Church maybe a couple of centuries old church but nonetheless a work of art……….

good luck with that, and I wish you all the Best

hope this helps

oh yes, and the prices depend on alot of factors:

  1. how big the dome will be?
  2. what materials is it going to b made out of?
  3. how much manual labor are you willing to hire?
  4. how quickly do you want it done?
