How many GB of internet do I need?

Hi, The gb (giga bit) number is the amount of data that you can download for free. So if you download a movie (or watch a movie on-line, it’s the same because it has to come in through your Internet line either way) the size of the movie file is counted.

Written stuff is not usually large in terms of data usage. Pictures, music and movies will use most of your data amount. High resolution pictures are more data than bad quality pictures. HD Movies use more than bad quality youtube videos.

If you click any file that you have saved on your PC with the right mouse button and then see “properties” it will tell you the data size, in bytes. One byte is 8 bit. One kilo byte (KB) is 1024 bytes. One mega byte (MB) is 1024 kilo bytes. And one giga byte is 1024 mega bytes.

So there you can see what size the files are. If you really only do mails, funadvice and facebook and you don’t watch a lot of uploaded photos… and if people don’t usually send you mails with large attachments (funny power point files with tons of pictures of cute kittens or other cräp like that) then the smallest amount will probably be sufficient for your usage.
