How long will my ears stay swollen?

I gauged my ears last night, and I jumped from a 12g to a 6g. I was just curious if anyone knew how long they would be swollen or if they even should be! lol. And how long they’re going to stay tender. thanks guys! Enjoy the rest of the evening. :)

k im glad you asked first. I just stretched my ears from a double zero to half inch… and theyre pretty swollen. so I guess its normal. I heard from a friend that its good to soak them in warm salt water for faster healing. but only for bout ten minutes amd no longer…

personally I love gauges. and they will hurt for awhile make sure to keep them clean and take an ibuprofin or something for the swelling and pain =]

Answer #3

Eek probably awhile. You should only do 1 or 2 gauges (at the most) at a time. By stretching gradually, you’ll be certain not to rip any of the area, and have less chance of infection. I’d say it’ll be like that for a few days, at least…

From a gauging site: “It’s important to change your gauge gradually, allowing ample healing time between sizes. If you move too fast, you might damage your skin enough to create scar tissue. Scars make your ear look as if it is cracking around the hole and also makes it very difficult to change gauge.”

I have gauged many times so they will be tender for 2 or 3 days and they might swell for a week. if you did it right it will go down in 3 or 4 days. I hope I was a ble to help.

Answer #5

You aren’t supposed to skip, I mean, I skipped to a 16 when I first started, but skipping from 12’s to 6’s is not a good idea…skipping two sizes can damage your ear and make it harder to stretch in the future. Besides if you were meant to go from a 12’s to 6’s they wouldn’t have made 8’s. Just saying.

im gauging my ears now to a six… from a 12 to a 6 I got tapers from spencers and everytime I get in the shower I push it thro a lil bit more. When I first got them I was really excited and just wanted to get it done. well my left ear was really really sore from the 12 so I didnt push the taper in to far cause I knew it would hurt altho my right ear was fine so I tried to shove the taper in and now my left ear is fine and at a 6 and my right ear is almost half way to the middle of the taper and really swollen and sore…I recomend using sea salt and anti bacterial soap. the swelling will last a few days! xoxo bethany

im sorry but gauging is so not my thing ! I dont think its attractive to guys and eew what does it look like when its out! I’d stop before the whole gets to big if I were you ..you might regret it later and dont think that I dont like peircings I have plenty . but its your style so do what you want.

Wow you skipped a lot, that’s crazy. Since you skipped so much, your ears will be swollen for a pretty long time lol. I just went from 2gs to 0gs today and they’ve been hurting for hours. Mine will probably be swollen for a week, but yours will be swollen for awhile since you skipped so much
