Why is it that we have gaps in our channels, like 2, 11, 25, 38, 56 etc.?

But even in like local channels it isn’t 1,2,3 its all scattered. we have the everything package and it still has gaps.

It might be because chanel one is controlled by a company that doesn’t show in your area

But im told with satellite you can get channels from around the world like i get channels from like asia and what not

That’s because asian channels are brodcasting ther shows to where you livei

tv channels are sent to your tv by radio waves, these waves vibrate at different wavelengths when they set up the broadcasters they dont want any disturbances or channels mixing so they send the radio waves far enough apart from the others being sent through the air for cell phones, pagers, radios, and other tv channels to avoid these signals mixing. your tv knob picks up the different signals allowed for tv.

In the old days before cable TV and satellites etc etc, the spectrum was divided up between TV channels 2 - 13. But also some stuff like FM radio and aeronautical navigation, etc was in there, too. So the gaps are there because of historical reasons … decided by some crazy government committee with a sense of humor.

I’m also guessing that some of those gaps are there so that TV stations would not run into each other. So for example, in the 1950s and 1960s in Los Angeles (where I’m from), there were channels 2,4,5,7,9,11,13 (essentially every other station).
