What does the future hold for the euro?

It’s popularity has always been shaky, and in light of the Greek debt crisis, many in Germany and elsewhere are railing against it.

Answer #1

The school of thought here ( U.S. Money Opinion section) is that it just doesn’t work. The thought is that the Euro will die in a few years and countries will again return to their former currencies.

Answer #3

I didn’t realize that it’s popularity was shaky, honestly…but, I can certainly see a country with an economy the size of Germany’s having a lot of upset people if their purchasing power or anything else negative happens as a result of the crises from another EU member country.

Answer #4

Das stimmt!

Answer #5

Very possible…if Germany and/or France do it, the eurozone is in trouble.

Answer #6

Switching to the euro was a painful process for people in many countries. It’s made travel and trade easier, but if these southern European countries are going to go in debt with no means of paying it back, and Germany has to put together another bailout package, it’s going to cause more backlash.
