How much does a BMW mechanic make?

Well its going to be about 25 days before I graduate from high school. At this point in time, I kind of feel like I don’t know who I am or what I want to become. I was wondering if anyone new the average salary of a BMW mechanic. My original plan was to go to UTI and study the BMW STEP program and work for BMW. Now I’m leaning towards a career in business or computers. My dream is to be some type of driver (I.e drifter, tuner), but I don’t know if that would provide a future for me. But they do say, pursue what you love. I’m at a crossroads where I don’t know what I want to do with my life. Anyway, back to the question on how much a BMW mechanic makes?

Answer #1

I would go by my local BMW Dealership and talk to a certified mechanic and Shop Supervisor - find out salary, qualifications, and good points / bad points of that career….see what they would recommend.

Good Luck and God Bless !!

Answer #2

most start off around 8 per hour and work about a year then dealer will start sending to school and raise you to around 12 after 4 or 5 years of experience and going to the dealer schools can make up to 30 per hour or even more if go to independant shop

Answer #3

I started at my local BMW dealership changing oil. After a year I started working on the cars while they sent me to classes to learn how to work on the cars. The best thing is they paid for my schooling. I have been with them about 7 years and I am making $45 a hour. I would start fresh out of high school like I did If I was you. Good look with whatever you chose to do.

Answer #5

A BMW mechanic makes about the same as any other mechanic. That’s because the folks who own the BMW dealership also own a bunch of other dealership and the same policies apply to all. In Alberta, that amounts to approximately $30. an hour, flat rate.

Answer #6

this that correc $30 ?

Answer #7

It all depends… If you work on flat rate or flat r@pe thats how I know it you dont get paid good unless you are one of the lucky ones…30 bucks and hour is good but when you only make 20 hours a week is not!!! Most of the dealers dont have benefits becuase you are not an employee, on flat rape you are like a contractor. Cars today have very little maintenance and lots of warranty repairs that dont pay. Thats why tech do lots of side work. check out indeed .com and other places like flatrate.com Good luck.

you will make a lot! long story short, im currently in school finishing a degree in mechanics. I got certified but I didnt take a really good class so I went back to learn everything so find a good school. (most good schools offer a two year degree where you can learn everything from a/c, to computer, transmission and everything else) When your done depending where you live and who you work for you can make anywhere from 45 to 55k starting and end up in the 100,000 if your dedicated and work hard and get a lot of customers. A mechanic I know told me that on a good week he makes an area of 3 to 5 thousand a WEEK on a average week he makes around 2 thousand or so but never under a grand! and annually he makes over 50 but he wont tell me how much and that doesnt include the side jobs he does at home and for his friends. oh yea and you get paid weekly too I cant wait to be done
