Well, it depends on how far back in time you are going, but the bikini was, I believe, a French contribution. Also, the beret - really big in the ‘60’s beatnik (yes, beatnik) culture of California and New York. You might also want to look up the designers for Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy, both of whom were French and both of whom changed fashion in the entire world. I hope this helps.
