Would this be a form of OCD ?

It’s really weird, but it pisses me off sometimes. If I eat something, like marshmellows, I have to have an even amount in my mouth, usually 3 on each cheek. & when I eat regular food, I have to take an even amount of bites. If I do anything, like make a noise or clap or something, it has to be an even number, like I have to do it twice. I have to brush my teeth an even number. It’s really annoying. & if I don’t do it right then it’s like, stuck in my mind for the rest of the day, like, “I could of done it, but I didn’t”. & if I said something I didn’t like, or if I didn’t say something when I could have, then it repeats over & over & over in my mind till I sleep. o.e

i think every1 has a bit of ocd but certain people of differnt degrees of it

Answer #2

i agree with rosealyn. i also think that everyone has their own weird habits, and tendency’s which makes us individually different. for instance i believe everything has its own place and if something is out of place or something is added in i freak out, because even though its not a big deal it really upsets me. if everything has its own place then its so much easier to take care of things if you ask me.

Well most even numbers come out to a divisible or multiple that in some way could be related to the number 666 which is proven to cause terrible luck, so you better watch out or you could end of up with some bad mojo going. Of course odd number bites might put you in the same danger zone and if you ever ended up with 13 then you would be in terrible mess, especially if it happened on a friday. I don’t know on this one, just to be safe you should probably stop doing anything related to anything numerical. Therefore most days you should probably not do anything, especially fridays, or tuesday’s and thursday’s which are odd days. I hear saturdays are lucky though, but then again witches use to do their ceremonies on saturdays, so scratch that as well. I guess you are just out of luck.. Hope this helped, and didn’t cause any further OCD or pointless worries. o.o

Answer #4

Well i do think it could be a form or OCD, since i have similar problems with having everything perfect and all even numbers. the even number of bites and brushing teeth o. o really annoy mee also when someone else is turning up the volume on the tv, it bothers me if it doesnt end on an even number. at school i have to walk a certain way to each class, its weird and makes me mad to sit and think about not crossing an even number of poles :p soo yea its possible :P

Answer #5

I don’t mean to offend you but it does sound like you have ocd, and i also believe that everyone has different amounts of it. I have to make my bed starting left to right and i have to put my shoes on right to left. It doesn’t sound like you have a serious case, so chillax a lil it will all be fine ;D

Answer #6

def sound like a mild form of OCD i’m no doctor but why would u be counting the number of times to brush and number of times u clap and get worried about it for the whole day if it’s not even. Ur obsession for even numbers is compelling u to clap evenly, brush evenly etc.

After rereading your post I must agree with the fact that each and everyone of us has an obsessive trait in our DNA, but it becomes more then an obsession when it is done repeatedly! That is when it shifts from just an obsessive trait to being an obsessive compulsive disorder… If you like to try on shoes from left to right or right to left it is simply called a habit! Not an obsession…it becomes an obsession if you cant get it out of your mind over & over & over & over again…then it is turns into an obsession. Now, if you find yourself doing that in every aspect of your waking day, then it becomes an obsessive compulsive disorder…because it simply takes over your life & you are so wrapped up in repeating things in your mind which is why it takes hours to complete even the smallest of tasks. For instance, a shower…for most of us we jump into the shower & wash/shampoo some of us condition & wash off & then dry ourselves off. Lets say it takes maximum 30 mins from start to finish…and I am exaggerating here…for someone with OCD, it takes 30 mins to arrange the towel for after the shower, 30 mins for the towel you need to place your clean feet on, 30 mins to close the door precisely so that it is completely shut & no water can enter then recheck that just in case there is even the slightest doubt that it may not be sealed shut. Now another 30 mins to open the knobs so you can adjust the water, first cold then hot then more cold then more hot then adjust because it is too cold then more hot but not too much hot so add cold & before you feel it is perfect for you you have to recheck that the everything is perfect. Now the soap…liquid soap for the win, so we press down on the spritzer making sure we take what we need but before we can continue it has to be lined up precisely to a certain place that our eyes focused on…so move it back & fourth til it is exactly on that spot which takes 15 mins while the water is running and then you can finally let go & begin washing yourself…but you cant stop there because what if you didnt wash it precisely the way you need to…missed a spot…so it has to be done again & again to make sure this time you didnt leave anything. Now the shampoo…and I think I can stop here…so you can understand the real difference between OCD and just an obsessive trait. My cousin has OCD and I have spent many years observing him…helping him & trying to deal with it…it’s not easy & you need a lot of patience…

If you think you may really have OCD I suggest seeing someone professionally about it. If it is taking over your life, there are ways to help you cope with it…You dont have to deal with it alone…

Sigh. Everyone on this planet does NOT have a mental disorder. If they did, it would not be called a disorder. People have a tendency towards patterns and order. That does not mean they have a disorder. Ok see this is why you don’t ask people on the internet to diagnose you with a mental disorder. You go see someone who specializes in mental disorders to do that. OCD cannot be diagnosed unless (as per the DSM) ‘the obsessions or compulsions cause marked distress, are time consuming (take more than 1 hour a day), or significantly interfere with the person’s normal routine, occupational (or academic) functioning, or usual social activities or relationships’. Basically they have to be causing distress or dysfunction. Since every person on the planet is not distressed over their obsessions/compulsions nor is it interfering with their lives, ever person on the planet does not have OCD.

Answer #9

The rule is, if it’s interfering with your normal life, it’s a disorder. Otherwise, it’s just part of how you are. Many people go through weird things when they’re young, just like, step on a crack, break your mother’s back. I’m sure more than a few of us took this a little further than the school playground… I sure did.

Answer #10

I think you should ask a doctor this question rather than using a retarded website full of people who think they know everything.

Answer #11

I used to have the exact same problem but it was with my limbs. I had to stand on each foot an even amount of times or if I waved with one hand my brain would be like “NOW AGAIN WITH THE OTHER ONE.” It still happens from time to time, I’ve just accepted it.
