What to get a 2-year-old boy as a gift?

My girlfriend has a 2 year old son that lives with his dad. I don’t know what to get him for Christmas. My girlfriend doesn’t know that I plan on getting him a gift, and I’m sure it will mean a lot to her. I know that he is an active 2 year old, but I don’t know of any particular interests. Any ideas would be great! Thank you.

Personally, I think for a boy you can’t go wrong with Thomas The Tank Engine toys - especially the kind which he can move around. Otherwise, the duplo-type building blocks are also a good idea - they are a good toy which stretches the imagination and helps develop thinking skills and devise solutions.

Some thoughts, anyway!

My son is three now, but when he was two, he liked Thomas the Tank trains which link together and Bob the Builder toys, or try some toddler building blocks. And as for the advice above, yes, don’t get those noise maker toys, it drives parents crazy. It’s nice you’re being so thoughtful, I’m sure your girlfriend will be appreciative. Good luck to you. Oh, remember to get a gift receipt.

Those are good ones…remember: if you get something that makes a lot of sound, requires batteries, or has flashing lights, it’s considered by most parents an “I don’t like you” gift.

Eg, the kid will annoy the parents making the sound, fussing when the battery runs out, etc…so try to avoid those kinds if possible :) Good luck.

What they said…Thomas the tank engine or Bob the builder…also a WIGGLES dvd is sure to bring a smile to his face :)
