I think I'm allergic to kiwi. I absolutely LOVE kiwi, but each time I eat it, my mouth feels itchy, my tongue feels numb and my taste buds swell. I thought this was normal until it came up randomly in conversation... it was mentioned to me then that my symptoms sound like a minor food allergy.
If it is a food allergy I have... is it dangerous for me to be eating kiwi??
Actually, if you have eaten kiwi with the same effects several times you are not likely to get dramatically worse symptoms. In fact, introduction of small quantities of foods you are allergic to will usually cure the allergy by teaching your immune system that this substance is not dangerous. Of course you should take note whenever you eat kiwi since there is the possibility of your immune system overreacting. But think of it more like hayfever than a bee sting allergy: more of an annoyance than a real threat.
DO NOT eat Kiwi again. This definitely a food allergy and as your body becomes desensitized to it (each time you eat it) the reaction will get WORSE until you end up with anaphylactic shock where your throat will swell and you can't breathe. If you have problems breathing with your tongue swellng, call 911 immediately or have e someone RUSH you to the hospital. This cab be fatal!!!
If it happens with any other fruits,you could be allergic to citric acid.I am and it sucks.Theres lots of stuff I can't have.When I do have a reaction my tongue/roof of my mouths starts to hurt and my tongue swells.And for some odd reason I just recently became allergic to broccoli.But yeah don't eat it anymore,like what everyone else said.
uhh, I have the same probs with shrimps too.. I almost died because my throt (spelling) swellled up. I suggest eating kiwi anymore you could die from it.
yeah...your tongue could sweel up and blobk your airway. don't eat kiwi unless you have a deathwish.
yeah definately don't eat kiwi again.
