During my career I have been to dozens of job interviews and have also done many different kinds of work ranging from dairy-farming to software development. I have yet to find a company that has not asked that question, and rightly so. It gives them a good idea if your the ideal person for them. If you look for work in a field that interest you, then it will be much easier to answer the question.
