How do you find surface area of five blocks that each have an edge length of 4.5 cm?

Im not getting people to do my homework..Im missing this week of school and I wasnt there to learn this lesson, and its just a hand in, so it doesn’t have instructions on how to do it, and i kinda epically fail at math, ALSO, what is the surface area of the tower if they are staked on top of each other?? Thankyou!

Break this off into steps. So these are cubes, which have 6 faces. You have 5 cubes, so 5X6 = 30 faces in total. Each edge length is 4.5 cm

First: Fine the surface area of ONE face which is a square. The formula to find the surface area of a square is simply sideXside Therefore : 4.5cm X 4.5cm (or can be written as 4.5cm^2) = 20.25 cm^2 Don’t forget that it’s centimeters squared now.

So now you have the surface area for one face, you use this surface area to find the rest. For this you can use simple addition or multiplication.

One cube has 6 faces so: 20.25cm^2 X 6 = 121.5 cm^2 You have the total surface area for one cube so 5 of these cubes is: 121,5cm^2 X 5 =607.5 cm^2 for 6 cubes Or you could have shortened this and just write 20.25cm^2 X6 X5 = 607.5 cm^2.
