Where can I find a FREE Mac compatible sequence alignment editor?

I’m looking for something along the lines of bioedit.

There is a list of similar sequence alignment software here:

Also try sourceforge.net and Google code…your other option is to also try some linux / *nix software as in OS-X, it’s basically linux underpinnings.

Thanks! Iv’e been trying to use Se-Al, but for some reason it won’t open the FASTA format. So frustrating!

Answer #3

Ah…sorry, software for biology research is … completely beyond me :( Hopefully that helped at least in a small bit.

I’ve seen this question asked often. You can use BioEdit with an intel Mac but you’ll need a couple of hours to set it up. I’ve written a tutorial here. http://funadvice.com/r/bl4831eoe8c Feel free to try it if you want. I have it installed on my intel Mac.
